Insurance before 2016
Applies to insurance before 2016
The statutory accident insurance under the Employment Accidents Act has two cornerstones:
- the employee has the right to be compensated under the Employment Accidents Act for the losses caused by an occupational accident or an occupational disease; and
- the employer has the obligation to insure their employees by taking out an insurance from the insurance institution of their choice
The statutory accident insurance has been laid down to protect employees and officials. Nowadays, the statutory accident insurance also covers farmers and certain groups, such as interns or persons in labour market training, foster parents, carers, grant recipients, persons in vocational rehabilitation, and persons in certain penal, welfare and nursing institutions.
